Custom Publishing
The SFSU Bookstore in conjunction with Rapid Copy in the library is committed to providing fair priced, high quality custom course readers conveniently. We are eager to be of assistance to faculty and students in pursuing academic success.
On-Campus Convenience
Our centrally located offices in the SFSU Bookstore, Student Union means greater convenience for both faculty and students. You can place your order by phone, email, online or we will meet with you in our office. We will pick up and return your materials at your convenience. Because we stock your readers in the Textbook Department, students can make all their purchases at the same time. One trip, one line, one payment.
Rapid Copy
Rapid Copy has recently replaced all their old copiers. The new machines all have scanning capabilities so your reader can be stored and edited electronically. This will produce a cleaner copy and speed up the reorder process. Rapid Copy can also receive your reader via email cutting down on the expense and hassle of printing out the original yourself. Inquire at the bookstore or Rapid Copy for further details.
Reader Reorders
Worried the bookstore will run out of readers? We have a very easy and efficient reader reorder program. If we run out of a course reader the student takes the reorder form from the shelf, pays at the bookstore and then takes his receipt and form to Rapid Copy in the library. Rapid Copy will then print that reader on demand for the student. Turn around time is never more than 24 hours.
Professorial Perks
The course reader program and the SFSU Bookstore strive to meet the needs of the faculty. We provide free desk copies for all readers. Professors can pick them up with their originals at Rapid Copy or if the professor prefers she can have the bookstore mail or hand deliver these items to her.
Copyright Permission

Copyright Permission is not optional. Both court decisions and University policy recognize the rights of the publishers and authors in reproducing classroom materials. Custom Publishing adheres to all rules and regulations pertaining to copyright law. At no extra cost, we will obtain publishers permission and pay all royalties in order to produce your course reader in a lawful manner.
IMPORTANT
When submitting copyrighted materials for a reader it is imperative that you include a complete bibliography of the materials you wish to include in your publication. The bibliography should include original copyright publication information. If you are including materials that have been culled from secondary sources you must include in your bibliography the original copyright source, usually found on a Permissions Acknowledgements Page in a collection or anthology. Without original copyright information we will not be able to obtain reprint permissions. If you don’t know where a piece comes from originally, don’t include it.
