As specified by the SFSU Board of Directors, the following policies apply to purchases made both online and in the store.
Non-Textbook Items:
Returns are allowed within two weeks after date of purchase, and must be accompanied by the original sales receipt.
Merchandise must be in the original purchase condition.
Photo ID is required for in-store returns.
NON-RETURNABLE ITEMS:
• Study/Testing guides, sale books and pre-recorded cassettes from the General Book Department
• Open shrinkwrapped packages
• Clearance merchandise
• Film and film products
• Umbrellas, earrings, articles that have been worn, washed or torn
• Computer Hardware and open software packages
• Schedules and bulletins
• Convenience store merchandise
• Calculators
Under the conditions stated here, we will gladly exchange or refund your online purchase. However, the customer must pay additional shipping/handling fees for an exchange unless the item is defective or the wrong product was shipped. Shipping/handling on returned merchandise is non-refundable and shipping charges you incur by returning the item(s) to us will not be reimbursed. Exceptions regarding the shipping charges policy will be considered if the Bookstore made a mistake on your order. Also in regard to returns issues, we may consider the date you receive your merchandise as your "purchase date" for orders placed online.
Textbooks:
Textbooks purchased for Fall or Spring semester courses are returnable for a 100% refund with receipt with PROOF OF DROP within two weeks from the official first day of instruction. ALL ITEMS MUST BE IN ORIGINAL CONDITION!
Textbook purchased two weeks after the official first day of instruction and thereafter are NOT returnable. There are no refunds allowed during Final's Week.
Textbooks purchased for Summer or Winter semester courses are returnable for a 100% refund with receipt and PROOF OF DROPwithin one week after the start of each session.
Exceptions MAY be made if you bought your textbook for the incorrect section of a course or if you have withdrawn from the University.
Course readers, software, and opened shrinkwrapped items are non-returnable. All refunds must be a accompanied by the original sales receipt and proof of drop (A receipt will be provided with your online purchase). Books must be in original purchase condition for full refunds.
Shipping or In-Store Reservation fees on online textbook orders is non refundable.
